The Adventist Church in Uganda is set to receive a new leader as the East-Central Africa Division (ECD) Council concludes today, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.
The two-day council’s final day will see the election of new leaders for eleven countries, including Uganda, Burundi, DR Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, and Tanzania.
Ugandans are awaiting the announcement of their new Uganda Union Mission president, following the recent elevation of Pastor Dr. Moses Maka to executive secretary of the ECD.
This decision was made during the global church election in St. Louis, USA, where ECD President Pastor Dr. Blasius Ruguri was re-elected.
During the ongoing session, delegates will also elect executive secretaries and treasurers for the 11 member countries.
The new leadership, who will serve for the next five years, faces the significant task of guiding the church into a new era of discipleship.
We continue to pray for a successful session and await the official announcement.
