It’s a sad day for the Adventist community after a tragic incident in which children allegedly killed their parents and other family members for being members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 29, in Mzizi A village, Kyatereka Sub County, Kagadi District
According to a police report, David Munyirambe, alias Richard, and Obed Baguma, sons of Yokonia Isakara and Elinora Kabugho, attacked their parents and other family members.
The two assailants killed eight people and injured nine more, including those who attempted to intervene.
Munyirambe and Baguma claimed that the SDA (Adventist) religion, which their parents adhered to, was false. They insisted that the family should join a new cult called “God Holy Spirit,” as indicated on their flag.
The two had been trying to persuade their family to join the new cult for some time, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
As the UPDF and police responded to the incident, the assailants retaliated by hurling stones from the hills, attempting to injure the security personnel.
However, the security forces cordoned off the area until morning, when they approached the scene. Despite this, the two men still advanced towards the officers with machetes, leading to their fatal shooting.
